Funding care

Care and support at home can be funded in a variety of different ways. We work with a number of organisations, charities, insurance companies and individuals who privately fund their care and support.

Below is information on some of the various funding options that may be available to you.

Privately Funded

We provide care to individuals that self-fund or are family / privately funded. We are happy to engage directly with private individuals and their family or loved ones to provide care and support. Our teams are always available to have an informal chat and help assist you or a loved one on their journey through the social care sector.

Direct Payments

For people who are eligible for care and support via Kent County Council, they can choose to have a direct payment. This is where the money from Kent County Council is paid onto a Kent Card or bank account. Individuals can use this money to pay for care and support, rather than access services directly from Kent County Council.

We accept the Kent card and are happy to provide support to both adults and children who are funding their care via this route.

Carer Assessment and Short Breaks

If you give unpaid care to someone who is over 18 you can contact your local carer organisation for support and request a carer’s assessment. Under the Care Act 2014, a carer is an individual who provides or intends to provide care for another adult. Having a carer’s assessment is not linked in any way to carer’s allowance.

They will use the information you provide during your assessment to produce a support plan to help you carry on doing the things that are important to you and your family.

Support offered may include practical assistance, like arranging for someone to step in when you need a short break. Expertise Homecare provides care commissioned by providers to support unpaid carers in Kent.
