Carbon Reduction Plan (Ashford & Canterbury)

Supplier name: Capella Care Limited T/A Expertise Homecare (Ashford & Canterbury) Publication date: 15th February 2026

Capella Care Limited T/A Expertise Homecare (Ashford & Canterbury) is committed to  achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the  past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.  Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be  measured.

Our primary sources of emissions include:

  • Company vehicle fuel use (where applicable)
  • Electricity consumption within our office premises
  • Staff travel between customers’ homes
  • Staff commuting
  • Purchased goods and services
  • Waste disposal
  • Digital infrastructure and IT use

At present, the largest contributor to our carbon footprint is staff travel between care visits,  which is inherent to domiciliary care provision.

Baseline Year: 2025
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

This is Capella Care’s first year of assessing and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions. As  such, the reporting period 1st February 2025 to 31st January 2026 establishes our  organisational baseline against which future emissions reductions will be measured.

Baseline year emissions: 1st February 2025 to 31st January 2026
EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 4.17
Scope 2 0.41
Scope 3 (Included Sources) Total Emissions 8.92 13.51

In order to continue our progress towards achieving Net Zero by 2050, Capella Care Limited  has adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

Using the 2025 baseline of 13.51 tCO2e, we aim to reduce emissions by 25% by 2030,  reducing total emissions to approximately 10.13 tCO2e.

This reduction will be achieved through improvements in travel efficiency, reduced mileage  between care visits, and improved energy efficiency within our office operations.

Because domiciliary care requires travel within the community, our long-term approach will  focus on reducing emissions intensity per service user, rather than relying solely on absolute  reductions as the organisation grows. 2025 baseline emissions of 13.51tCO2e and an  average of 63 customers, the carbon footprint equates to approximately 214 kg CO2e per  service user per year.

Progress against these targets will be reviewed annually as part of our environmental  monitoring processes.

We use modern care planning technology to optimise staff rotas and minimise travel  distances between care visits. This reduces both fuel consumption and travel time.

We prioritise recruiting carers within the communities they serve, allowing staff to walk,  cycle, or travel short distances to clients.

We use digital care planning and electronic records, significantly reducing paper usage and  administrative printing.

Our offices use:

  • LED lighting
  • Energy-efficient equipment
  • Responsible energy usage policies

Where appropriate, virtual meetings and digital communication are used to reduce  unnecessary travel.

In addition to the measures already implemented, Capella Care Limited intends to introduce  further initiatives including:

  • The gradual transition to hybrid vehicles for company vehicles where practical • Further optimisation of care scheduling software to reduce unnecessary travel  between visits.
  • Increasing the use of remote meetings and digital training to reduce travel  requirements
  • Continued reduction in paper usage through digital systems
  • Working with suppliers who demonstrate environmentally responsible practices • Encouraging staff to work locally where possible to minimise commuting distances

These initiatives will contribute to achieving our Net Zero commitment by 2050.

In addition to reducing emissions within our own operations, domiciliary care services can  contribute to wider environmental sustainability within the health and social care system.  Supporting people to remain safely in their own homes can reduce reliance on hospital

admissions, emergency transport and residential care placements, all of which typically have  significantly higher associated carbon footprints.

By delivering efficient, community-based care through localised staffing and optimised  scheduling, Expertise Homecare (Ashford & Canterbury) supports a model of care that  aligns with the principles of sustainable healthcare.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and  associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting  standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas  company reporting2

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR  requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in  accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the  Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard3
